DOCUMENTARIES I'VE ENJOYED

I love to watch documentaries on Netflix, and a lot of these films open my mind or at least make me question or ponder things I might never have been aware of otherwise. I decided to share some of the more interesting ones I've watched over the course of the past year or so. All of these were interesting to watch and definitely left an impression on me. I highly recommend checking some of them out.

I'm pretty sure there are way more than this, but this is all I could remember.

CANON 5D MARK II HDSLR

Drool.

I've been a Nikon fan for some time now.  My first DSLR was the Nikon D40, and it has treated me really well, but today I discovered the Canon 5D Mark II HDSLR and I think I'm totally in love.  I've been doing a little research on film cameras lately because I want to film.  Yes, the film bug has bitten and I think it's a natural progression from photography.  I was looking into getting a Nikon D3000 then I decided for the D5000, but after discovering the movie mode only filmed in 720p, I decided I should keep my Nikon D40 and go with a nice film camera.  Then with a little more research I discovered the Canon 5D and my world was changed forever.  Just watch the Making of The Last Three Minutes which was filmed using a Canon 5D.  I'm sold.  The director of the movie makes some great points, like the first person capabilities, how light weight the camera is, and how you can get shots with the Canon 5D you can't get with bulky cameras.  Man, I'm in heaven.  It's a pretty pricy camera, but the capabilities and the fact that it can not only take amazing 21.1MP, full-frame 35mm-format photos, but also produce HD quality movies with full sound has me thinking this could be a very good investment for my future.

Anyway, I'm done nerding out, but I had to share this amazing find.  I'm definitely going to be purchasing one in the future and I cannot wait!

DO SOMETHING REEL

Earth month is upon us!  Just one more day of March and then it begins and in honor of that I want to share the following with you:

Recently my mom sent me a link to this website, it's for Do Something Reel Film Festival presented by Whole Foods Market (love that place) and it's touring the country with 6 films about various environmental issues, initiatives, and ideas.  They will be touring the whole month of April for Earth Month and they'll be in 70 cities.  You can read a short summary of each film here and you can see if the films are coming to a city near you here.  There are going to be showings in New Orleans and Baton Rouge so I highly recommend all my friends in those two places go!  I'm going to decide on a film or two and see them, but it's going to be so hard to pick!  I want to see them all!
