Thank you once again, Stumble!  First click of the button today and it brings me to this amazing site, Yatzer.  "Discover a new material: NewspaperWood" read the headline as the page loaded.  The project is by Mieke Meijer who had a vision of reversing the order of production and by doing so, recycling.  This was initially just a student project for Meijer, but four years later it became a full blown reality when he teamed up with Arjan van Raadshooven and Anieke Branderhorst of designlabel Vij5.  I highly recommend you read the whole article on Yatzer, and definitely check out the sites.

Here are some examples from Yatzer.

I really love the idea of this.  I think the treatment, the texture, and the beauty of it are really spectacular.  This just goes to show you we can do amazing things with what is already in existence!

These two dudes Tiago Rorke and Greg Saul have created an ingenious open-source software that enables users to quickly and easily create a one of a kind chair.  You can even use use pre-existing designs and simply modify them.  Mikey found the SketchChair on Kickstarter (an awesome site where you submit a video about your project, product, idea, film, whatever, and then get everyday people to help you fund it through donations).

Tiago and Greg want to not only just create a website where you can do this, but they really want to created an atmosphere and community where people can collaborate and share ideas.  I have been wanting to get into furniture design for sometime now, so I think that SketchChair is wonderful because you can create and build your own furniture and even test it out before you have it sent to who will then create and ship your chair right to you!

There are still 11 days to help Tiago and Greg finance their project, and even though they're well over their initial pledge, you can still help them out or simply searching around for projects you'd like to back.

Here are some photos to get interested!
