LAZY SUNDAY

Guess who got an iPhone finally?  That's right, me!  I'm a lover of Macs, but I had Verizon and I liked them way better than AT&T, then they finally got the iPhone and my contract wasn't up, but yesterday my life changed!  Ok, a bit dramatic, but I've been wanting one forever (that one is for you, Marcus)!  Anyway, I jumped on the Instagram bandwagon, and I have to say I really like it.  I've taken some photos of my up coming jewelry collection (two pieces have been released on Replay, so make sure to go check them out!

Here are some Instagram photos, and if you want to follow my photos (I will be using this for everything), follow me at sarmcmahon.

Enjoy!  Oh, and I threw in two adorable creatures, too.

UPDATE :: BACK AT IT

Ok, so the holidays are over, the relaxation is done, and tomorrow things go back to reality.  I've had a great December, and I'm taking that as a preview of a wonderful year to come.  I'm currently working on my life (not just because of the new year, but because I want things the way I want them), I have some freelance work, and I'm hoping to pay off some debts soon.  I feel good about where I am as a designer and where my career is headed.  I also feel good about life in general.

Over the past year, through all the shit, I've managed to form a great attitude towards life.  If you're unhappy, change it.  If you want something, go for it.  If you don't, there's no one to blame but yourself.  If you can't change something, adapt or say "fuck it" and move on.  These are little bits of wisdom I've really adopted recently, and it really is quite freeing to own your life and your decisions.

Now that you suffered through my thoughts, here are some photos of recent events.  Enjoy.

FLASH RING

I recently bought a flash ring for my Nikon D40 (which I want to upgrade to a Canon 5D asap) and I LOVE IT!  Why in the world did I not know about the awesome photography power that is a flash ring before!?  Really, the ring is amazing and I only bought an inexpensive one off of Amazon.  It ran around $45 and I've seen ones for even less on there.

So, not sure what a flash ring is?  I guess I should start off with that.  A flash ring is a camera accessory that attaches to the hot shoe and the front of your lens.  Unlike what its name implies, a flash ring is a continuous ring of light that shines directly on your subject.  Widely used for macro photography and portrait photography, the flash ring makes things so much easier!  No more need for your flash (which I highly recommend never using unless you have an external flash with a softbox).

Needless to say, I wish I had known about the flash ring a long time ago!  Here's an example of what it looks like followed by some examples of the photos I've taken using my flash ring.

This is the only downside to the flash ring:  If you zoom all the way out, you get the ring in the photo.  It kind of worked with this one, though.

This is the flash ring in conjunction with natural light.  Just a little experiment.

DELICIOUS IMPROMPTU PIZZA

Last night when I got home I realized I wanted to cook something, but what!? I remembered I had bought some delicious zucchini the other day and decided to cook that. After opening the refrigerator I realized I had some mushrooms, too, hooray!

Now here came the dilemma, what to use them for? I originally was just going to eat them with some delicious Tony Chachere's spices, then it hit me...

Pizza Crust!!

Then I added olive oil, a little pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, olives, and finally the zucchini and mushrooms. It was amazing!

And here's a picture of Clementine. She was pouting while I was cooking. Silly puppy.

CLEMENTINE'S FIRST DAY AT THE BEACH!

Here are the photos from "Clem's first day at the beach!"  She was so excited and we're totally taking her on more puppy adventures!

These are six separate digging moments.  She loves to dig!

Mikey and Clem running through the water.

Note the broken leash.  Little booger broke it while we were there.  She just wanted a new one...

Somebody had a horse on the beach!  How neat, it's like a movie!

There were tons of stingrays, luckily they're chicken.

Clem had issues with this old Mountain Dew bottle.

Clem wanted this.  That's as close as she got.  She totally wanted to put that in her mouth, eww.

And finally, Clem peeing.  This actually occurred right when we got there, but whatever, it's pretty funny either way.  [click to enlarge for better facial expression viewing]

CLEMENTINE, THE GREAT

So recently I made the decision, quite on the fly I might add, to get a precious little puppy. Or so I thought... haha, no she's sweet, just going through her terrible 2's at this very moment. Let's just say everything is chewable and peeing on my floors is becoming an art.

Anyway, in the middle of two jobs, running Replay, moving, and just trying to spend time with my wonderful new boyfriend, I took on the responsibility of this little being. She's wonderful, really smart, can sit already and Mikey taught her to fetch, but it's not all rainbows and sunshine. It's crazy, people always say having a dog is good preparation for having a kid (NO not having any of those ANYTIME soon), but I think it's true. I think everyone should have to have a puppy before they have a kid!

I love her, but she's no Sebastian, my sweet sweet kitty. He's so wonderful, sweet, and adjusting to apartment life quite well. (He used to be an indoor/outdoor killing machine. I'm sure the neighborhood creatures on 7th Street have let out a sigh of relief!)

Here are some photos of the Clementine, The Great! In cat hats... cruel? ADORABLE!

"Aww, I don't like this!"

"Please, no photos!"

"Ok, here comes the violence!"
