Hello all!  Sorry I've been absent the past week.  I've had so much to do!!  I was working on my portfolio.  I was working on my mom's future book.  I was working on resumes.  I was working on my practicum.  I was working on learning Adobe Premiere.  I guess in all that working I just couldn't keep up with the rest of my life, but I'm back.  I know you were sad.

This post is entitled "New Raw Vegan Diet, For A While" because that's what I'm doing.  I recently watched two documentaries that got me thinking and exploring.  The first was Ingredients, which was about the local food movement, and I'm totally for.  The second was called Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead.  It's about this guy's (Joe Cross) journey to get healthy, fit, and off his medications of nine years by raw juicing.  Now at first I was going to try this, but after being evaluated at Reboot Your Life (the website that accompanies the documentary), I decided to try the suggested juice and raw fruit and vegetables diet.

First, let me say that I'm so excited to be doing this, and I'm already through day two, and I feel great.  Most people, if they do the raw juicing only, feel sick the first few days and then energetic and wonderful, but I guess since I had gone back to being a vegetarian already, I wasn't affected.  The reason I'm doing this is to get healthy.  Fruits and vegetables are essential to healthy living.  In today's fast paced society where fast food is king, people are getting farther and farther from healthy eating, and essentially killing themselves.  Processed foods, foods high is salt, foods high in sugar, foods high in bad fat (yes, there is good fat: avocados, nuts, olive oil, to name a few), fried foods, excessively large portions of food, the list goes on.  This is what most people are consuming everyday.  It's disgusting.

Now don't get me wrong, I've eaten my fair share of the crap over the years, but I've also tried to avoid a lot of it, too.  Not to say I was always successful.  I've been a vegetarian twice now...

For me, this is just the right thing to do.  I'm not here to convince anyone otherwise, although I highly encourage it.  I just want to share my experience and hope that it might inspire others to do the same.  Honestly, I don't know how anyone can't.  Once you're presented with enough facts, you just can't deny it any longer.  I couldn't, at least.

Hormones in our milk, in our meat.  Terribly inhumane conditions for animals.  Fatty foods.  Sugar laced everything.  Fried this and that.  Heart disease.  Cholesterol.  Obesity.  Child obesity.  2000 calorie fast food meals.  Diabetes.  Processed foods.  High fructose corn syrup.  Should I go on?

I've decided to say no more to any of it.  I'm going to eat the raw fruits, vegetables, and raw juices for a while.  I'll slowly introduce cooking back in, and I'm also going to eat seafood (I eat it seldom, and I love it).  As far as milk (which I didn't eat before), eggs, cheese, butter, sour cream, beef (didn't eat before either), chicken, turkey, ham, or any other animal product go, we're done.

I've also cut out all beverages except water for now.  I'll introduce tea later, but soda and I are also done.

Don't believe me?  Well, I'm going to blog about it.  And I ain't no liar!!  Haha, "ain't no" yesh!

I'm going to be posting what I eat, how to make it, etc.

I hope I can inspire some others, but if not, no biggie.  I'm content with what I'm doing.
