Self-improvement can take many forms, ranging from the physical and health-conscious to the intellectual and educational. It’s a highly subjective matter, rooted in values handed down from our parents and the self-image we continually create as we grow. It is an intrinsically optimistic pursuit because it’s about hope; hope for a bright future and the promise of new achievements. Sometimes, self-improvement has to do with wanting to emulate someone we admire, a mentor or personal hero. Whatever the reason, the desire to grow shapes our focus and our wishes. It’s one way of imagining a better future for ourselves and working to become a more well-rounded person.Read More

Hey, remember that time I started those "memes" that were about being positive? Yeah, I don't either, it's been a few years, but here's the thing- I decided it was time to revisit them. They honestly helped me through some weird challenging times, they're just little droplets of wisdom, and with the insanity in today's world, I think they're pretty important.
We tend to focus on the negative, whether collectively or on an individual level, and that's such a lame human trait when you think about it. My great-grandmother (and namesake) used to say "It's just as easy to be happy as it is to be sad." Of course my mother used to tell me this in my youth and I'd blow it off, but as I've grown older I've discovered that lady had a pretty damn good point. It's all a choice how we interact with the world. Sure, crappy things pop up, tragedy happens, things can get pretty grim, but it's up to us whether we learn and move forward with a positive view or let the dark times consume us.
Anyway, I've started an Instagram account (another Instagram account... ) called Start With Positive, and I'm redesigning all the sayings.
I'd love it if you followed Start With Positive for little bits of positive energy! I think we all could use little reminders to be positive beings. When we start to act how we want the world to be, it really does manifest. Nothing will ever be perfect, but some extra positive vibes sure can't hurt anything...
Stay positive, see the good in the world, be the good in the world.

Believed to be a hybrid of sour orange and citron, or lemon, bergamot has a fresh floral citrus scent, but it also promotes many health advantages. Bergamot boasts a variety of benefits including: antiseptic, antibiotic, antidepressant, deodorant, vulnerary, antispasmodic, sedative, analgesic, disinfectant, febrifuge, cicatrisant, digestion, and vermifuge.
Although bergamot is typically used for it's aromatic properties, it can also be very effective when applied topically. When it's applied to irritated rough skin bergamot is great for easing inflammation. Bergamot is also excellent for calming anxiety. When bergamot is applied directly to your temples it helps ease headache tension.
Try diffusing some bergamot in your diffuser to help aid with depression.
**BONUS TIP: You can use bergamot by applying it topically to your body before getting in the shower, this releases the scent and creates a calming and uplifting environment.
Are you new to essential oils?
I highly recommend you check out this book series on essential oils. This series includes valuable information for the family, for illness and safety, for wellness, and for everyday essential oil uses to help you reclaim your health.
I have two dogs, and those dogs sleep in the bed... with me... I'm also a neat freak who wants everything to smell good all the time. I had to figure out a way to mitigate the pup smell and overall grossness of having animals in my bed, so I've made several essential oil bed sprays to do just that.
These are super easy to make!Read More

Thing is, on my quest for better health, I knew I needed to ditch the ice cream and gelato and go for something healthier, but I didn't want to compromise on taste. So, I experimented. After many failed attempts I think I've perfected my recipe and now I want to share it with you! There's a secret ingredient... and it's Vegan!Read More

I'm on a serious quest to make myself the best I can be, and at the core of that is my health. Generally speaking, I've always been very healthy. I was breast fed, never had ear infections, have rarely ever been sick, and I grew up on well water that came from a natural spring in South Mississippi. With that being said, we are all constantly bombarded by chemicals. They're in the air, the water, in our food, in the soil from which our food grows, in processed products, every f**king where. That being said, I'm trying my best to figure out what works for me and what eliminates as many of the toxins from my body as possible, and on a daily basis since currently this is a daily battle for all of us. In this journey I'm going to start writing about what I'm doing, what works for me, and tell my story to maybe inspire others to figure out what works for them.Read More
Round II of Bohemian Style Inspiration is here! As I've stated before (see original post here), I'm more of a sleek modern type of decorator, but I have to say that I love adding some bohemian inspired pieces into my usually mid-century modern/industrial aesthetic. I also love to add a little bohemian touch to my personal style. A piece of jewelry or a cute purse can really add some visual interest to your style.
Several of these products are recycled, too! Love that!
I've recently gotten into diffusing essential oils, and I've come to realize there are a multitude of ways to diffuse them. How do you diffuse oils? Super simple, you add a few drops of your favorite essential oils to the diffuser of your choice. That's it! I would recommend only adding 1-3 drops of oil, more than that can be a bit overwhelming.Read More

My printable birthday cards have launched! There are five cards so far (adding more this week), and they are sold separately for $2 a piece, but there's also a 4-pack set for $5. These are great for printables because they use minimal ink. In my search for inspiration I found a lot of beautiful designs, but very few were practical. Let's face it, ink isn't cheap, but with these you don't have to compromise design while conserving ink.
Be sure to check back periodically because I'll be offering some of these for free for limited spans of time!
